Sealing Solutions for Valves and Fittings

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies offers numerous dynamic, static or pneumatic sealing solutions – from standard O-rings to customer-specific parts – made of premium materials for the food and beverage industry for highest security of all types of valves, such as single- or double-seated, diaphragm or butterfly valves and fittings. All materials used in this area conform to FDA standards and EU (Reg.) 1935/2004. Many even offer more approvals, like USP Class VI and 3-A® Sanitary.

For hygienically demanding areas in valves, we provide you with sealing solutions that are designed according to Hygienic Design standards, meaning that there are no dead spaces where media and cleaning agents or other residues could collect and contaminate the product. One example is the Hygienic Usit® washer, which securely seals screw connections inside or outside the product area. All sealing solutions for valves are resistant to CIP/SIP media, enabling reliable sealing and a longer service life.

For special applications including the use of flavors, we offer the specially developed material family Fluoroprene® XP which reliably prevents flavor transfer and displays excellent resistance to both polar and nonpolar media, including aggressive bases and fats.

Reducing the friction of seals is another important challenge, resulting in good seal longevity and ensuring that no abrasion debris can be found in the end product. A friction-optimized seal can significantly extend maintenance cycles. Freudenberg has developed its own treatment method, RFN (Reduced Friction by Nanotechnology), that does not change the seal’s properties and does not affect certificates and conformities for the food and beverage industry. A common application is the treatment of butterfly valve seals for optimizing friction behavior, resulting in smooth opening and closing.
